Some months ago, at the Bisbee Pirate Festival, saw one 'o the local buskers playin' one off the main street (see photo one). Planted enough of a seed fer me to reproduce one fer Tucson Comic-Con. Looked great but musically was an epic fail at producing the LOUD melodic wails heard from the Bisbee contraption (see photo two). Am looking for a cheap, beat up, 20"-26" drum to experiment with. The head need not be intact nor the hardware pretty looking. Does Ye know of one? Attachments:

$7.50 at the swap meet for a 14" drum. Heads in decent shape, gonna strip it down, pool acid bath to take the gaudy chrome off then let it rust and age before shooting it with satin clear epoxy. Still could use a 22-26 incher if anyone knows an inexpensive source.

Puttin' the hairy eyeball on a 55 gallon steel burn barrel with the rolled rim. It's 24", perfect. Also scrounged up an old stripped cello skeleton. Will use the neck on this project an save the body for an outlandish guitar/lute like device. If ya ain't got 20 projects on the fire ya ain't pushin' hard enough. Jes sayin'

Got the cello neck stripped and finish sanded to #320. The whole skeleton was in SUPURB condition for being a swap meet bottom of the junk pile survivor. No cracks, no big dents, very few scratches. Seemed almost criminal to cut the neck off. Attachments:

Finished neck. Now have to mount the 14" drum and start experimenting with spring tension. Attachments:

Still lost on playin' this thing. Calls up every stray cat in the neighborhood.
