Had to retire the old doubleneck finally. Too big Too heavy, too many repairs needed. Went shoppin' and came up with a 3/4 size acoustic 12 string with a fat neck for fat fingers. The matte finish won't stand out as looking too modern. Two month wait for the Luthier to install the pickups, so I'm doing it myself. Fat hand needs to go thru the sound hole and attach 3 piezo tabs to the back of the bridge, jack plug in thru the body end peg. Fun times , then practise, practise, practise for the next Food Fest Attachments:

Tip for anyone attempting this- the piezeo tabs MUST fit tightly against the bottom of the bridge plate. Check with a mirror! A 12 string might not have enough flat area on the plate. Mine required a small build up of potting epoxy on the edge of the plate to provide the needed contact area. Shoe goo won't cut it. Need a true hard and brittle compound to transmit the bridge vibrations to the tabs.

Cap'n gave me a garage sale guitfiddle, a little beat up with a very solid hull. Will get new tuners, strings, a proper bridge and a little body work. Will make a great intro instrument for someone with smaller hands iffins they wants to join our nonexistant pirate band. I can learn ya 5-6 easy chords ta strum and any voice is good voice when it comes ta sea chanties.
